Last weekend, my husband and i was excited to decor our front gate garden; we were excited talking about the lanscaping design, what types of plants to have and without deep thoughts, we both drove our way to Kota Kemuning plant nursery house to shop for plants. haha, my little kelisa was fully loaded with plants and i have no choice but to sit on top of the stone when heading back..... It was a fun day!

The planting process was kinda tedious, imgine under the hot sun at 1pm.... people might thought we were crazy or something but to us the

passionate drives us to never stop working, we are so looking forward to see the outcome.... and we were so pleased about the outcome; i purposely chose colorful stones as the walking path and variety of plants with combinations of color. Although bali garden concept was the trend nowadays and i still loves the concept, but sometimes try something diff does give some spikes of excitement like little cute concept like this, does it brought you any pleasant feels too? ;P

haha... time flies! we have stay in our "home sweet home" for about a year and half! despite last year was busy with wedding preparations and holidays planning, partying with neighbours and outing with friends had keep us occupied for months.... and therefore no spare time to improvise our home further and in fact home decor were always be my husband and i best interest....

In January 09, we both decided to work on the courtyard. The idea to make the courtyard transform to a platform surrounded with greens and comfy pillows sitting on the platform were designed since year 08, but looking at the quotations from vendor does scares us to drop this idea. But then, my husband decided to make it himself and results, it was perfect and cost cheaper by 70%. We like this platform very much and its become a common place for poker, mahjong, enjoy tea, chit chatting, yoga and meditation area.... my husband had pull some additional wiring and plug a wall fan on top and additional power points for future use just in case, it does enhance the entire outlook of our house from whichever perspective with more style and indulgence....

Current economy downturn and financial woes may hold back some green initiatives

Look into current economy downturn and financial woes may hold back some green initiatives, the future will never looked greener! :(
Mainly because creating a more sustainable economy is not an option, but a necessity. And we all know that necessity is the mother of invention. Perhaps, in coming days entreprenuer and marketer will focus more on cost saving products where go-green objectives may put as second priority. There are 2 products i found that still serve these 2 purposes, which is so encouranging!
1) new "Prius" from Toyota that comes with moon-roof solar panels above the rear seating that power the ventilation system, which is designed to keep the car cool while it's parked in order to reduce air-conditioning time. Eventually it helps to protect the environment with lower consumption of air condition. Reported that this product was launch at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit (January 2009).
2) And next is phones are going solar! Somehow this technology is still in its infancy, but "Digicel" is going to lauch its Coral-200-Solar mobile phone sometime on June 2009. This phone offer basic mobile phone features with an integrated solar charger. Users can generate enough electrical power to keep their phone charged using the solar panel on the back of the phone, and the phone is made with recycled plastic from water bottles. The Blue Earth’s interface allows users to quickly switch back and forth to an energy-efficient screen using the 'eco mode' option. The 'eco walk' function allows users to count how much they are reducing CO2 emissions by using a built in pedometer to measure each step they take. Impressive! :)

Green grannies helps in current recession-busting period

I have read an article that truely draws my attention to share with all of you....I have seen among many creative ideas, this is truely a practical one and good campaign ever..
Grandmothers are known for many virtues, not the least of which is their ability to knit spectacular socks. Perhaps even more admirable, however, is the older generation's ability to make the most of limited resources.
With grandmother's talent in mind, Oxfam recently recruited a team of what it calls "Green Grannies" to offer advice to the UK public about everything from how to darn socks to how to make delicious food from leftovers. Part of Good Ideas Unltd, Oxfam’s new lifestyles campaign, the service aims not only to help UK consumers save cash, but also to encourage recycling and help tackle climate change, which it notes has a particularly hard impact on the world's poorest populations. Generally i think it helps in many ways in current reccession-busting period.

To disseminate the grannies' advice, Oxfam has launched a YouTube channel—a recent clip describes how to stay warm at night without running the heat, for example—and will soon debut its ‘Ask a Granny’ service on the Oxfam website.

This group of tallent-minded team (Oxfam) truely draws my respects to them. They adopt "looking-in" methodology by utilizing human nature ability and resources, reminded us innovation is not always about technology advacement.
Green Granny Barbara Walmsley explains: “I have always made the most of what I have—it just comes naturally to me. Every granny has her own tricks for saving money, and I’m really glad to have the chance to share them with younger people. Its great to be involved with a campaign which is helping people living in poverty now, and which will also help take care of the world for my grandchildren’s generation.”

"Waste not, want not" is a maxim that works well both from an economic and an environmental perspective, and it's also one that comes naturally to older generations. Where else could consumers benefit from some elderly advice....
